THE BIG PICTURE

About this course

The PMI Risk Management Professional (PMI-RMP) certification is awarded by the Project Management Institute (PMI). It recognises practitioners who can identify, analyse, respond to, and monitor project risks to improve predictability and outcomes across delivery. Over three days you work through the PMI-RMP domains: from risk strategy and planning, through identification and qualitative/quantitative analysis, to response selection and ongoing monitoring. Activities include building a risk management plan, structuring and prioritising a risk register, light-touch Monte Carlo modelling, and reporting risk exposure; you will explain choices, compare techniques, and receive feedback. The PMI-RMP exam is a computer-based, closed-book exam delivered via Pearson VUE at test centres or online proctored. Candidates apply for eligibility with PMI and, once approved, schedule the exam through Pearson VUE; renewal is on a three-year cycle by earning PDUs. Project Management Institute (PMI) owns the certification scheme. MindClick provides training and exam preparation and is not an accredited or authorised partner.

What you’ll learn

  • Define risk governance, appetite, thresholds, and a practical risk management plan
  • Identify threats and opportunities using structured techniques and build a quality-assured risk register
  • Prioritise risks using qualitative methods, scales, and facilitated risk reviews
  • Apply quantitative concepts (e.g., EMV, decision trees, and simulation concepts) to estimate exposure
  • Develop fit-for-purpose risk responses and assign ownership, budgets, and triggers
  • Monitor and report risk performance with metrics, trends, and clear stakeholder communication
  • Integrate risk actions into schedules, budgets, and change control without creating new risks
  • Prepare for the PMI-RMP exam with a study plan, practice questions, and exam-day guidance
